MicroProse, my new publisher

MicroProse, my new publisher

I’m proud to share that I’ve teamed up with MicroProse to publish my new game, as well as a relaunch of Repella fella.

This partnership is a big moment for me as an indie developer. First of all, it’s MicroProse. I was born in the 80s and I grew up playing many of their simulation games. That logo means a lot to me. When I look at it, it conjures thoughts and feelings of my first PCs, floppy disks, and games from my childhood. Gunship, M1 Tank Platoon, Civilization and various Falcon games to name a few.

During my teenage years, I also enjoyed playing Worms 2, various XCOM games, Mechwarior 3 and Tactical Ops. I was also surprised to find that Ground Branch, a game I backed years ago is also being published by MicroProse!

The second reason I partnered with MicroProse is because they’re now Australian based. 2LeftThumbs, my previous Canadian publisher, was an amazing partner. But Repella Fella is an Australian game and I felt it could be better handled by locals who understood the game and its references.

I appreciate everything Graeme did and helped with, and I highly recommend his services to anybody else looking for a publisher. He’s a great guy, and because of his support, many opportunities were presented to me over the past few years.

Having MicroProse as a publisher now means I have a local team of people who can help promote the game as well as helping with the financial burdens of game development, including the hiring voice actors and concept artists. Various technical limits I hit using Construct 3 have also been overcome, meaning Repella Fella will be available to a larger audience in the future.

Speaking of Repella Fella – the game has just relaunched under MicroProse, which comes with various updates:

  • Updated to Construct r397
  • Updated Greenworks to 0.89.0 which uses Steam SDK 1.60
  • Updated credits to be 30FPS as 60FPS + high res video was causing issues for some users
  • Updated credits to include development footage so that it’s not so boring
  • Credits can now be skipped
  • Updated trailer
  • Updated publisher logo
  • Added Bomb Dodger’s Bible as a PDF in the ‘extras’ folder
  • Added game theme song, 3 versions (2 never before released), as music tracks in the ‘extras’ folder
  • Added around 200 images showcasing development shots in the ‘extras’ folder
  • Fixed 2 save game / black screen related bugs
  • Removed streamer mode, original music is better and ‘safe’ music was getting flagged anyway
  • Updated hacking minigame to give visual representation of order – a fix for colourblind people
  • Fixed some broken fonts on Steam Deck
  • Updated demo intro

You can view the updated version of Repella Fella on Steam or GOG.

That’s all for now. Soon, I will have new information about an upcoming project. Until then, enjoy!
